I would like to mention about something sensitive today,
it is related to school life, but dark side in school life with friends.
Do you know there were some issues about school violence?
Recently it was reported that Korean famous female volleyball twins players were kicked out from the national team due to the violence they committed while in school. Have you heard of this?
If you're wondering What abuse in school is?
It includes but is not limited to, in and out of school on the measures of a student occurring
targeting injury , assault , imprisonment , intimidation , defamation , insults , blackmail ,
extortion , forced errands and sexual abuse , bullying , cyber-bullying, using the information network
in an obscene way, violence by information such as physical , mental, and or verbal acts.
CNN, which is Cable News Network (CNN), a multinational news-based pay television channel headquartered in Atlanta, also reported in an article that the female volleyball players were kicked out from the national team due to their violence.
Bullies actually seeing consequences of their actions is huge. Just at the end of February there waz a report out of busan about a middle school student who had been badly bullied by some you know kids older than her and as well as some of kids her same age. Gum in the hair, cigarette Burns on the back of the hand, bruises. And apparently the reason for it was having had a foreigner mother. So what happened to these volleyball players?
According to the report, after admitting to having physically and emotionally abused their school mates, for this reason, both players were banned from participating in volleyball games indefinitely, in the national team indefinitely, and were severely punished for indefinite deprivation of their qualifications as volleyball leaders. Some media said the reaction to attackers were too severe and too much.
What did their coach do?
What did other adults do?
Were there bystanders?
I think it would have been probably not severe enough.
As an adult your actions have consequences.
We should be teaching our kids that actions have consequences and if they do something like this,
they should have the foreknowledge to know, or reasonably expect,
that a possible outcome could be exactly what happened to them.

After that,
some of celebrities in famous programs or dramas got off due to a school violence incident,
and other school violence issues from celebrities have turned out, one by one in the sports world
and among entertainers and actors or musician celebrities.
I honestly do not believe that anybody who bullies another person, doesn't know that it's not right. They know for fact that they would not like to be treated in that manner and yet they still willingly treat another person in that manner. They know that is wrong.
Even Korean president said, "In the field of sports, human rights issues in sports such as violence, corporal punishment, and sexual harassment have been raised consistently."
We were focusing on the violence issues regarding to what celebrities have done so far.
I think that any abuse in school can not be hidden forever, even though the time goes by.
Moreover, the attackers should be punished properly no matter who they are, in order not to make further victims.

What we should know about child abuse in school is that many students pretend not to know the school violence because they believe that they can be another victim after having intervened.
In a survey report on school violence released by the Ministry of Education in January of this year, 29.5% of students who witnessed school violence were found to be bystanders.
In the case of the attackers, it does not end even though they graduate from school. Even after entering university, if the victim is held criminally responsible, he may become a convict. Recently, an article stating that "the perpetrator of school violence entered the police school" was posted on the Blue House national petition, so it led to controversy, and criminal responsibility can be held. I think it should be done like this.
There must be a regulation for school violence. Teachers are also subject to criminal penalties as assistant offenders if they know about school violence and pretend not to know. I know many schools in Canada have a 0 tolerance policy but a lot of times in the classroom in Korea teachers just shrugged off or they turn a blind eye or in some cases even participate in it.
Being neglect is also another criminal. What is scary is that violence in school can occur anytime anywhere.
It can and it almost seems like there are a lot of times were Korean students are unsupervised both in the classroom and on school grounds.
Criminal psychologists said that school violence needs active defense, not neglect. It is necessary to socially imprint that school violence is strictly illegal and must be followed by punishment. I honestly think that schools should have a 0 tolerance policy here.
미투 운동, ‘Me Too’ movement?
The Me Too (or #MeToo) movement, with variations of related local or international names, is a social movement against sexual abuse and sexual harassment where people publicize allegations of sex crimes.
Like Me too movement, School violence Me Too is spreading. But instead of reporting to police, the victims have been posting on the online community, saying I'm a victim. Why are they bringing it up now? It is because the wounds and hurts from violence are still ongoing for the victims. And the penalty to the attackers and solutional cares for victims lacked. So the victims are going online.
It also has to do with the fact that the police seem to do very little here and don't protect the victim from retribution from the bullies and the families if they do end up pressing charges.
This is because another victim can come out.
So we need a system that allows victims to report the violence properly without worrying about retaliation.
