It would be a bit late to talk about 삼일절,

which is the day of memorial for Independence Movement in Korea.

The March 1st independence Movement is another big one in Korea.

I have learned quite a bit about it over the years. 

 

삼일절 means March 1st of Independence Movement. And it is taken place on March 1st. It's a Movement instituted to commemorate the Republic of Korea 's National Day and it is a public holiday.

 

 

 

 

 

How was 삼일절 set up?

 

After liberation, it was designated as a national holiday on March 1, 1946 for the 27th commemoration ceremony.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Why 삼일절 is meaningful is that...

 

there was movement from the populace for independence for our nation. During 삼일절, back then, 3,000 people including Yu Gwan-soon and Son Byeong-hee participated with the movement without hesitation.

The people who led the national independence movement are called 33 national representative.

All of them were arrested or put in jail, after this national independence movement. And the number of assembly members was about 1.66 million, of which about 900 were killed and 47,000 were arrested.

Following the March 1st Movement, the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea was established in Shanghai, China on April 11, 1919, the following month.

She was one of the independence activists during the Japanese colonial period.

We call that time 일제강점기.

She was arrested for leading the national independence movement, which started with

the March 1st Independence Movement in 1919 and died in Seodaemun Prison.

 

 

 

 

Maybe people who participated in the March 1st Independence Movement had very tragic and untimely ends. It was a very brutal, harsh and sad time in Korean history.

 

But the Korean people never gave up their fight for independence from Japanese colonial rule.

 

삼일절 wasn’t the day of start for independence movement, it is the day that we declared that from now on we won’t be ended till we achieve our liberty!

 

It is like the March 1st Movement that citizens gathered in one place and launched a peaceful independence movement.

In fact, Neru, the first Prime Minister of India, who respected Gandhi, told his daughter, 'The March 1st Movement in Joseon was a great independence movement that did not yield to the Japanese imperial repression in order to find freedom and independence as the Korean people became one.'

 

 

India was also deeply impressed with the March 1st Movement in our nation. Also in Joseon at that time, it can be seen that India and Joseon, which were in the same position, were influenced by each other's independence movements and constantly tried to escape from colonial rule.

 

 

'Peaceful protest' or ‘nonviolent resistance’ were based on the straightforward beliefs of independence activists around the world.

March 1st  Independence Movement was in 1919. And in 2019, it was the 100th Anniversary Ceremony!

 

 

In order to celebrate 삼일절,

the 100th anniversary, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Section 3.1, events were held across the country. In the Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, a large Taegeukgi was hung in nearby buildings including the Government Complex Seoul, and President Moon Jae-in, ministers of various fields, and about 10,000 citizens attended.

 

 

 

 

 

 

What were the 삼일절 Results of the nonviolent revolutionary movement?

 

The March 1st Movement was the largest of the independence movements developed by the Korean people during the Japanese colonial period and was national. 3.1 Exercise has direct Korea ethnic Korean who was a colony under the rule of Japan.
