Today I want to share about Korea’s Ramen, I guess some listeners found out that Korea’s Ramen becomes more popular and gets global across the world.

And I'm pretty sure just about anyone who has ever eaten Raman, at least for a second time will tell you that there are so many different flavors out there at that everyone can find something to their taste. In fact, of course while it's true I don't know that many people, I will say that I have never met someone who didnt like ramen who was over the age of 10.  It's just so wonderful and amazing especially on a cold cold afternoon or night.

What inspired me to choose ‘Ramen’ for today?

I have seen the articles, New York Times says, "The best ramen in the world is Nongshim's 'S - ramen Black'. And I have met many Australian friends who loved Korea’s Ramen so much before! That’s why I was thinking to talk about Korea’s Ramen globalizing and now I got the chance~!

The New York Times in U.S picked “S - Black" as the world's most delicious ramen in the world

In an article titled "The Best Instant Noodles" on the New York Times' product review site, S - Black topped the list of BEST 11 instant noodles selected by reporters and experts. S - Black scored big in its signature thick soup and chewy noodles.

The newspaper said that S - Black has a winning combination of a complex, spicy broth, substantial dehydrated vegetables, and toothsome noodles.

I don't think I can choose one as my favorites but there are so many of them I like, like the sesame and egg ramen? so yummy. and kimchi ramen is pretty tasty too!!

Back to Korea's Ramen, Chapaguri (Chapagetti + Neoguri, 3rd), S - Ramen Gunmyeon (6th), and S - Saval (8th) were listed in the rankings, drawing attention. Out of the total 11 products, four brands were the only Korean products to rank! I think this is amazing! I have tried chicken taste cup noodle which color is yellow, and the taste is a bit salty.

It evaluated "Chapaguri", which became famous for its Oscar-winning movie Parasite, balances the sweet and spicy taste of jjajang. It is so famous, we all should try it!!! check it out!

Some people that I met got confused between Japan’s Ramen and Korea’s Ramen.

There are many differences!

Japanese ramen is more subtle in flavors compared to that of Korean ramen as it has a stronger taste, and is generally spicy. Another difference between the two is that Japanese ramen's broth is made from chicken, seafood, or pork stock whereas Korean ramen's soup is made from a processed seasoning.

(I love both Ramen, by the way)

Lastly, I was surprised for Ramen’s history, can you guess where the first Ramen came from?

According to the record of the Yokohama Ramen Museum, ramen originated in China and made its way over to Japan in 1859. Early versions were wheat noodles in broth topped with Chinese-style roast pork

There are many opinions in terms of Ramen’s nutrition, by the way.

Though instant ramen noodles provide iron, B vitamins and manganese, they lack fiber, protein and other crucial vitamins and minerals. Additionally, their MSG, TBHQ and high sodium contents may negatively affect health, such as by increasing your risk of heart disease, stomach cancer and metabolic syndrome. and if you eat it late at night, you might wake up the next morning bloated.

In Korea, we have considered Ramen as bad food due to low nutrition and MSG, but What I found out recently was Ramen has no MSG and antiseptic?

It is so shocking, isn't it?!

Here are just a few tips for healthy Ramen!

Serve with a variety of veggies: By adding different vegetables to your ramen noodles — green onions, mushrooms, squash, cabbage, zucchini, and bok choy, to name a few — you can amp up the nutrient quotient and fill up on nature's bounty rather than just the noodles themselves.

Don't forget the protein: it doesn't just have to be meat. You can try eggs, tofu, or edamame.
